E.ON sees pipeline investment decision in mid-2009
German utility E.ON and its Austrian partners plan to take a final investment decision on a gas pipeline to connect the central Europe and the Mediterranean region in mid-2009, E.ON’s CEO said on Wednesday.
“This Tauern gas pipeline is intended to link the central European gas network to the Mediterranean region and particularly to Italy,” Wulf Bernotat told reporters at a briefing in Rome. He said completion and commissioning of the pipeline is expected in 2015.
The consortium including E.ON and Austria’s Salzburg, Energie Oberosterreich, Rohoelaufsuchungs, Kelag and Tigas, has been considering building a 260-km gas pipeline across the Tauern mountains in the Austrian Alps, according to earlier media reports. (Reuters)
