Decline in gas, electricity consumption
Gas and electricity consumption of Hungary has been on a decline for several years, as analytics of Energetics and Public Utilities Regulatory Office (MEKH) illustrates. Though gas consumption has seen a compelling fall, Hungary’s electricity usage has seen considerably insignificant decrease.
As MEKH data shows, gas consumption decreased to approximately 8.5 billion cubic meters last year from 9.3 billion in 2012, 10.3 billion in 2011 and 11.3 billion in in 2010. Households buying their gas on the regulated market consumed 100 million cubic meters less last year, down from 3.2 billion in 2012, as a result of gradual drop of 3.4 billion in 2011 and 3.6 billion in 2010.
The consumption of electricity has equally been on a decrease in Hugary. Last year’s consumed 34.26 TWh is less than 34.57 in 2012. However in 2012 Hungarians used more than in 2011 (34.56 TWh) the figures were still on a decline as compared to 35.38 TWh in 2010. On the regulated market, electricity consumption came to 10.3 TWh, down from 10.4 in 2012, 10.5 in 2011 and 10.6 in 2010.
