The European Investment Bank (EIB) said that its outlays to Hungary reached €891 mln last year and Hungary signed new contracts for €756 mln worth of credit in 2014, EIB Vice-President László Baranyay said today at a press conference in Budapest.

“As in previous years, the EIB maintained a dynamic momentum of loan signatures in Hungary also in 2014,” Baranyay said, adding that “the Bank provided loans for €756 million to finance projects contributing to the increased quality of life for Hungarian citizens, reduction of disparities in regional development and to strengthen the country’s economic competitiveness.”

Baranyay noted that “this year the EIB expects to increase its lending in Hungary significantly: we envisage providing some €1 billion to co-finance projects with the European Commission. In addition, we will continue to improve the access of SMEs and larger private corporates to long-term financing under favorable conditions.”
