ECSR finds shortfalls in Hungary labor code

Competition

The Council of Europe's European Committee of Social Rights (ECSR) found shortfalls in all the 41 member states it investigated, including Hungary, Hungarian news agency MTI reported today.

In its review of 14 areas of regulation, the ESCR found Hungary's labor code was in line with the European Social Charter in six, but it found shortfalls in four and requested further information on another four areas because Hungary had failed to comply with reporting requirements.

The ECSR found that Hungary's labor code dealt appropriately with occupations involving risk or health hazards. Rules on weekly rest times were also in line with the charter, it added.
