Easter sweets sales could jump
Sales of Easter sweets are expected to jump this year during the upcoming festive season after last year’s dip, Anna Benke, the secretary of the Hungarian Sweets Makers Association told Hungarian news agency MTI.
In 2015, sales of seasonal sweets were down by 2%, to HUF 4 billion, around Easter time as compared with the preceding year, Benke said, citing data by market researcher Nielsen. She added that last year sales volume was even lower, down by 10%.
The secretary of the association said that the country’s whole sweets market was expected to be worth approximately HUF 180 bln this year, similar to last year’s figures.
