Duna House: Home sales up in October
Based on estimates, 11,842 homes changed hands in Hungary in October compared to the 10,987 transactions in September, real estate broker Duna House said yesterday, according to state news agency MTI. The number of transactions in October was up from 11,692 in the same month a year earlier.
In January-October 2015, the number of home sales was 114,565, up 34% compared to the same period a year earlier.
In October, the price of prefabricated, communist era flats was HUF 147,000 per sqm in eastern Hungary, HUF 161,000 per sqm in western Hungary, HUF 280,000 per sqm on the Pest side of the capital and HUF 288,000 per sqm on the Buda side.
The price of brick homes was lowest in eastern Hungary, at HUF 171,000 per sqm, and the highest in central Budapest, at HUF 486,000 per sqm.
About 39% of transactions in the capital and 23% of transactions in the countryside were made for investment purposes.
