The conditions for boating on the River Danube will be improved and navigation is expected to develop as a result of a cooperation agreement signed by the Danube Commission and the European Commission department for mobility and transport, Hungarian news agency MTI reported on Friday.

Under the agreement signed in Budapest on Friday, the two organizations will join forces to improve the conditions for navigation on the River Danube, a major waterway in Europe. The principle of sustainability is to be respected, and representatives of the two organizations said domestic water transport in the affected countries will also benefit from their cooperation.

The agreement was signed by Director-General of the Danube Commission Petar Margic and Director-General for Mobility and Transport at the EC Joao Aguiar Machado.
