China's trade surplus with the European Union rose 31% in 2006, compared with 2005, the official Xinhua News Agency said, citing the commerce ministry.The nation had a trade surplus of $91.7 billion with the EU, compared with $70.1 billion a year earlier, Xinhua said, citing figures from the Ministry of Commerce. Chinese exports to the EU reached $182 billion last year, a 27% increase from 2005, while imports climbed 23% year-on-year to $90.3 billion, Xinhua said. The EU was China's top trading partner last year, making up 15.5% of the nation's trade with the outside world, the report said. (Bloomberg)
