Cereal harvest yields vary widely from region to region in Hungary with around half of the harvest completed, the head of the National Grain Growers Association (GOSZ) told MTI today.

József Vancsura said the size of the harvest is expected to be 10-20% smaller than last year due to extreme weather conditions at various points of the year, but the quality of the harvest is good.

Wheat yields, for example, vary from 3.1 tons per hectare to 9 tons per hectare, he said.

This yearʼs harvest is expected to be completed by August 1, Vancsura said.
