Hungary's National Consumer Protection Authority has fined energy-service providers E.On, Főgáz and EDF Démász a total of HUF 16 million for failing to meet the requirements regarding their bills, the parliamentary representative from the governing Fidesz party in charge of the utility-fee cuts, Szilárd Németh, announced on Tuesday. Under regulations passed in the middle of February, the utilities must display savings stemming from the government-mandated 10% cut in household electricity, gas and district-heating prices on their bills. Németh said that the National Consumer Protection Authority had imposed first-instance fines of HUF 7 million on E.On, HUF 6 million on Főgáz and HUF 3 million on EDF Démász for failing to comply with the law requiring them to clearly display savings resulting from the January 1 government utility-fee decreases on their bills. The authority earlier fined GDF Suez HUF 10 million and Elmű HUF 8 million for this infraction.
