Weather

The final damage caused by last Saturday's storm may be close to that caused by the storm of January 30 last year, which was put at a cost of nearly HUF 3.5 billion, the Hungarian Insurers' Association (Mabisz) reported, according to business daily Világgazdaság.

Mabisz said reports are pouring into insurance companies following the February 4 windstorm.

By Monday evening, 13,000 people had contacted the companies because of the damage caused, but the number is expected to increase significantly in the coming days.

The damage covers the entire territory of the country, in addition to Budapest, Mabisz added. Companies have so far paid out or reserved payments totaling HUF 1.8 bln.
