Grape harvests in the Tokaj region yield between 30,000 to 35,000 tons a year, while winegrowers expect this year’s harvest to produce between 40,000 and 45,000 tons, Regional Wine Community Council Chairman Ferenc Marczinkó told MTI on Monday.
The average farmgate price for grapes was between Ft 70 and Ft 80 per kilogram last year, a figure that Marczinkó said might fall this year.
The harvest is expected to begin in the middle of October. (MTI – Econews)
