Hungary harvests 16.3 mln tons of grains

Hungary has harvested 16.3 million metric tons of grains this year, business daily Napi Gazdaság reported, citing agriculture ministry officials. The country has 7.3 million tons of grains and 9 million tons of corn after harvesting 96 % of the 1.2 million- hectare (3 million acres) area, the Budapest-based newspaper reported, citing unnamed officials at the ministry. Hungary had 16 million tons of grains last year. Hungary exported 1.3 million tons of grains in the five
months ended Nov. 30, with 500,000 tons sold in Greece, Napi Gazdaság said. Other countries buying Hungarian grains include Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Bosnia, the newspaper said.
