Hungary farm sector output climbs 10% in 2010

Output of Hungary's farm sector rose about 10% last year, reaching HUF 1,800bn, Rural Development Minister Sándor Fazekas told Parliament's Agriculture Committee on Tuesday.
The increase was mainly due to price rises as the volume of crops harvested fell 5-15% in 2010, Fazekas said.
Hungary's farm product trade surplus reached €2.1bn in 2010.
Hungarian farmers received HUF 533.5bn in support last year, well over the targeted HUF 469bn, Fazekas told the committee.
Farmers are expected to be allocated HUF 628bn in support next year, more than this year.
