Groupama to offer online travel insurance from December 15

The Hungarian unit of French insurer Groupama will start offering travel insurance policies online from December 15, Francois Maresquier, head of Groupama Insurance Rt, announced on Wednesday. The company will be the first in Hungary to offer such policies online. The online policies will be 20% cheaper than those sold at offices or by agents. Just 30% of Hungarians who travel abroad take out travel insurance, compared to 95% of UK travellers and 70% of German travellers. Groupama Biztosító expects premiums on its travel insurance policies to generate Ft 30 mln next year, Ft 60 mln in 2007 and Ft 100 mln in 2008. This year, Groupama expects total revenue from premiums of Ft 580 mln, Ft 40 mln more than in 2004.
