Budapest storm damage around Ft 1 bln
The total insurance cost for the damage caused in Sunday's storm in Budapest is expected to eventually reach Ft 1 billion (€3.6 million), the Association of Hungarian Insurance Companies (Mabisz) said on Wednesday.
Insurance companies have so far received 3,500 claims for damaged homes and buildings, totaling an estimated Ft 420 million, and 133 claims concerning cars amounting to Ft 64 million. According to previous experience, however, only a small proportion of clients contact their insurance companies in the first couple of days, the association said.
The storm, in which four people were killed and hundreds suffered injuries, affected Budapest's inner districts most seriously.
