In the summer heat, the demand for drinking water increases significantly, and providers are already preparing for this, the Ministry of Technology and Industry announced on its Facebook page.

The increased demand for water is typical in touristic areas and in the part of the Budapest agglomeration where the number of properties and the population have grown by leaps and bounds in recent years, the ministry wrote.

In the Balaton area, on an average mid-year day, the amount of water extracted and used is 70,000 cubic meters per day; on a summer day, this increases to 90,000 cubic meters, and during prolonged heat, it can be up to 130,000 cubic meters per day.
