Report: Austria does not send refugees back to Hungary
Despite the fact that Austria reinstated border control on its Hungarian border, no refugees are being sent back to Hungary given the refugee situation in Hungary, Austriaʼs Minister of the Interior Johanna Mikl-Leitner said, Hungarian online daily Index.hu reported today.
According to the minister, the reinstated border control is an “important signal for the world,” that the “unlimited influx of migrants” need to be stopped and everything should get back to the way it used to be, Index.hu reported.
The Austrian Interior Ministry said that between September 5 and 13, roughly 50,000 refugees crossed the Austrian-German border, while on September 13 and 14 approximately 17,000 made the crossing, the online daily reported.
