Rapeseed harvest falls in 2011 as a result of decline in planting area
Hungary's rapeseed harvest fell in 2011 as compared to 2010 as a result of a 9.3% yr/yr decline in the area of land on which the plant was grown to 237,706 hectares, the Hungarian agricultural chamber MAK told MTI on Thursday.
The chamber said that the rapeseed yield was 2.24 tons per acre in Hungary this year, little changed from last year.
The chamber noted that a one-third decline in Germany's rapeseed harvest is likely to encourage more Hungarian farmers to plant rapeseed.
