After inspecting a section of the barrier being built along Hungaryʼs border with Serbia, near Mórahalom, both Minister of Interior Sándor Pintér and Minister of Defence Csaba Hende said the construction that began in July to halt the massive wave of illegal migrants will be finished by the August 31 deadline, Hungarian news agency MTI reported yesterday.

Local mayor, Zoltán Nográdi, told the minister that the fence has already begun to serve its purpose and diverted plenty of illegal migrants already. He noted that those who cross the border have become more aggressive and demonstrated passive resistance.
