Autumn wheat, barley harvest completed in Hungary

This year's wheat yield of 4.2 tonnes per hectare is well above last year's average of 3.7 tonnes. Autumn wheat has been harvested from an area of 953,000 hectares, close to 59,000 hectares less than last year, the Ministry of Rural Development told MTI .
The amount of wheat harvested is 500,000 tonnes more than in 2010. This year, 70% of the wheat is milling quality and the remainder is feed quality.
The harvest of autumn barley has also been completed, with 670,000 tonnes of barley harvested from 165,000 hectares, at an average yield of 4 tonnes per hectare.
The maize harvest is estimated to total 8.1m tonnes this year, with maize harvested from a total of 1.2 million hectares, almost 145,000 hectares more than in 2010. Average yield is estimated at 6.6 tonnes per hectare.
Sunflower seeds were sown on close to 575,000 hectares, with the harvest estimated at around 1.4 million tonnes, calculating with an average yield of 2.4 tonnes per hectare.
