Hungary's apple crop is likely to reach 520,000 tonnes, plus or minus 10%, this year, business daily Világgazdaság said, citing a projection by professional association FruitVeB and regional apple-growers organization ÉKASZ.

Spring frost and cold weather have delayed the harvest by about 10 days, the paper said.

FruitVeB noted that Hungary harvests 800,000-900,000 tonnes of apples in a good year and 300,000-400,000 tonnes in a bad year. Last year, the apple harvest reached 399,000 tonnes, according to data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH).
