According to preliminary data released by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) today, the output value of domestic agriculture was 4% higher at current prices in 2013 than one year earlier. The principal contributor to growth for the sector was the larger output volume of crop products...

Based on KSH data, the output volume of crop products rose by 22% in 2013 year-on-year and cereal output increased over 30% y.o.y. The output of industrial crops meanwhile expanded by 11%, that of forage plants by 10% and that of horticultural products by 9% y.o.y.

The volume decrease of potatoes was accompanied by a significant price rise. The volume of fruit production rose by 16% in 2013, which caused a price decrease within this product group.
The output of live animals was cut by 3%, that of animal products by 2%, with total volume of the animal husbandry sector falling by 3% y.o.y.

KSH found that the value of output of the agriculture branch (including services and secondary activities) was 4% higher y.o.y., thus indicating that “the performance of domestic agriculture has permanently improved since 2011.”

Gross value added rose by 30% at the prices of the previous year and by 6% at current prices. Labour input in agriculture was 1% lower in 2013 y.o.y.
