One third of Hungarians use their smartphones while on holiday to read the news, gathering information on newsworthy and other issues, Kutatopont’s representative survey of 2,000 participants reveal.

Data by Kutatopont suggest that one third of Hungarian adults read domestic news with medium regularity, one fifth read domestic news occasionally, while 15% of the respondents read news regularly.

Kutatopont noted that slightly more than 33% of Hungarians leave home for their holidays, the majority of them opting for domestic vacation destinations.

“Our survey reveals that during the summer period there are both less news and less readers, however, those who own smartphones can hardly isolate themselves from everyday happenings,” Levente Székely, the director of Kutatopont, said.

Of those who follow the news during summer vacation, 40% are interested in political news and 28% in economic issues.
