Directed by Peter Farrelly, and starring Viggo Mortensen, Mahershala Ali, and Linda Cardellini, this year’s winner of the Best Picture Oscar, “Green Book,” screens with original English audio and with Hungarian subtitles at multiple locations in Budapest.
The story tells about Dr. Don Shirley, a world-class African-American classical and jazz pianist who is in need of a driver and protection when he embarks on a concert tour in the Deep South in 1962. A working-class Italian-American bouncer becomes his driver. Despite their differences, the two men soon develop an unexpected bond while confronting racism and danger in an era of segregation.
Mahershala Ali, who plays Shirley, won his second Best Supporting Actor award for the role, and the film also won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
