Budapest Festival Orchestra plays Bartók in Müpa

The Budapest Festival Orchestra, conducted by Iván Fischer, will play works by famous Hungarian composer Béla Bartók at the National Concert Hall bearing his name in Müpa Budapest on March 21 at 7.45 p.m., according to mupa.hu.

The first half of the concert will be unorthodox in format, with the orchestra juxtaposing the original folk music collected by Bartók with the composerʼs own compositions, according to mupa.hu. The program will include Bartókʼs “Romanian Folk Dances” and “Bluebeard’s Castle,” alongside Hungarian folk songs.
The event features Márta Sebestyén (vocal), Viktória Vizin (mezzo-soprano) and Krisztián Cser (bass).
The same program will also feature at a repeat matinée performance on Saturday, March 23, from 3.30 p.m.
