Röszke border crossing reopens
Hungary reopened its border crossing with Serbia at Horgos-Röszke, on the M5 highway on Sunday, while refugees are still being registered at Horgos-Röszke 2, Hungarian news agency MTI reported today.

The border crossing had been closed from September 17, until it was reopened by Hungarian interior minister Sándor Pintér and his Serbian counterpart Nebojsa Stefanovic, yesterday.
Pintér said that migrant pressure on Europe created an “extraordinary situation” for Hungary and Serbia, and the solution for this “extraordinary situation was planned and executed together” with Serbia. Pintér said that it is regrettable that the situation could only be solved by closing the border crossing.
“Real friendship is shown in trouble; we were in trouble and we solved this situation as friends, and this will strengthen the cooperation of the two countries.” Pintér reportedly said.
Stefanovic noted that Hungary and Serbia are “good neighbors” and the two countries can “cooperate well.” He added that the reopening of the border crossing shows the two countries’ dedication to work together in crisis situations.
