Construction output up 37% yr/yr in September

Building industry output was up 37% year-on-year in volume terms in September according to working-day adjusted and unadjusted figures, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported. Construction output rose a seasonally- and working-day adjusted 9.2% from August. Output in the civil engineering branch rose by 42% year-on-year in September and by 24.2% year-on-year in the first nine months. The sharp nine-month rise reflected mainly road and motorway construction projects, road renewals, public utilities construction projects and construction in industry and health care sectors. Nine-month construction industry output rose 17.4% year-on-year. In 2004, construction output was up 5.8%.
