MVM NET joins DE-CIX internet exchange point

Competition

MVM NET, the internet service provider and subsidiary of state-owned Hungarian Electricity Work (MVM) Group, has become a full member of the DE-CIX (Deutsche Commercial Internet Exchange) internet exchange point based in Frankfurt, according to a statement Monday by MVM NET.

The statement said the move will help to lower the costs of acquiring internet bandwidth, and will also lower the dependence of the company on the services provided by foreign ISPs. MVM NET said it is the fourth Hungarian ISP that has joined the DE-CIX.

DE-CIX as an internet exchange point is a physical infrastructure through which ISPs can exchange internet traffic between their networks. DE-CIX is one of the largest IXPs worldwide in terms of peak traffic, with a maximum throughput of 3.4 terabit per second. DE-CIX operates IXPs in Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg, Munich, New York and Dubai.
