The ZalaZONE self-driving vehicle test track in Zalaegerszeg (about 180 km southwest of Budapest) joined a number of Hungarian startups in a presentation to representatives of big German companies in Berlin late Thursday, state news wire MTI reported.

ZalaZONE and companies such as Aeriu, AutoParadigm, Electromega, Inventure Automotive and Pozi Tech were showcased to experts from Continental, Bosch, Audi and Daimler at a forum organized within the framework of the Startup Campus Berlin and with the cooperation of the Hungarian embassy.

Startup Campus Berlin is an initiative of Enterprise Hungary Nonprofit launched to give several dozen startups from Hungary and the CEE region the chance to reach foreign markets through the gateway of the German capital.

ZalaZONEʼs business development manager Péter Simon said in his presentation at the event that the self-driving vehicle test track would feature a fully-outfitted Smart City section unlike any other in the world, with the exception of one at a test track in the U.S. state of Michigan.

Gergely Ellenrieder, who heads Aeriu, said his companyʼs drone-based technology for inventory management recently won the support of one of the worldʼs largest home furnishings retailers and would be used in hundreds of warehouses around the world. The Budapest Business Journal recently conducted an interview with Ellenrieder about the startupʼs plans.

AutoParadigm presented a mobile charging system for electric vehicles it is developing.

Electromega showed an EV garbage truck with an operating volume better suited for early-morning residential pickup than conventional diesel-fueled vehicles.

Inventure Automotive showed a telematics system compatible with any make or model of vehicle.

Pozi Tech presented its technology for high-precision real-time tracking in industrial and warehouse settings. Co-founder László Györgypál said the company already counts Audi among its partners, and General Electric as its first paying customer.
