Hungarian low-fare airline Wizz Air has been named 2016 Value Airline of the Year by Air Transport World (ATW), presented to CEO József Váradi at ATWʼs 42nd Annual Airline Industry Achievement Awards gala dinner in Singapore, according to a press release issued today.

Wizz Air received the award in recognition of the airline’s excellent performance, superior service and outstanding achievements over the last year, according to the press release. When accepting the award, the company noted that it carried over 19 million passengers in 2015 representing a 22% increase over 2014, while adding 11 new Airbus aircraft and creating some 400 new jobs bringing its total headcount to 2,600, the press statement noted.

“We are honored to be recognized with this prestigious award. With several remarkable milestones achieved, 2015 was taking us to new highs in all terms of our operations,” Váradi said, adding that “we believe that travel provides opportunities that can make life and the world around us better and the incredible loyalty of our passengers and this award verify our efforts on making travel affordable to everyone”.

Váradi foresees more opportunities to cater to passengers this year, by expanding the network and continuing to offer low fares. “We will continue to enhance customer experience while allowing our passengers to tailor their travel experience with WIZZ according to their own needs: Our very low fares will meet their needs if traveling on a budget, while if they seek extra comfort, they can benefit from our numerous enhancement products and services.”
