Following Vodafoneʼs takeover of Tesco Mobile during the period of April 6-16, Tesco Mobile customers will no longer be able to sign new subscriptions for mobile services through Tesco, Hungarian online daily index.hu reported today.
Although services are expected to continue uninterrupted, as of April 5, topping up prepaid cards for already active Tesco Mobile subscriptions cannot be carried out until the takeover is complete, index.hu added.
Switching services to Vodafone will require an upgrade of internet, MMS and voicemail settings, for which customers will receive a text message. After the switch, some tariffs will still be available, however, certain options and conditions could either change or become obsolete.
After reports surfaced on February 24 that Tesco Mobile could cease to exist, it was reported that the Hungarian clients of Tesco Mobile were eligible to cancel their subscriptions effective immediately if the level of service deteriorated in any way.
Tesco Mobile has operated in Hungary since March 2012, and was founded by Vodafone and Tesco Global Aruhazak Zrt. with a 50/50 stake.
