Two utilities companies fined for failing to properly inform households of savings
Two energy service providers have been fined for failing to properly inform clients in bills about savings made as a result of government reductions in household utilities prices, daily Magyar Nemzet said on Tuesday. The government mandated a 10% reduction in household electricity, gas and district heating prices from the start of this year. Service providers are required by law to clearly show clients the resulting savings in bills. Magyar Nemzet said the service providers cited will have to pay fines of HUF 8 million and HUF 10 million, respectively, citing the National Consumer Protection Authority. The paper learnt that the two companies who are being fined are Elmű and GDF Suez.
