Japanese electronics manufacturer Toshiba has announced its plans for the construction of solar projects with a combined capacity of 6.5 megawatt in Tokyo according to reports. The construction of 1.5MW in Kanagawa prefecture, south of Tokyo will break ground on April 1 this year, Bloomberg reported. Toshiba is also planning to build three stations in the country, which will be installed by the end of March 2014. SunPower recently signed a new module supply agreement with Toshiba, taking shipments above 100MW per annum. The local authorities set a subsidy of ¥42 per kWh for solar energy as the Tokyo News cites. This amount is twofold Germany’s subsidy and three times more than China’s.
