ThyssenKrupp inaugurates HUF 1.2 bln plant in Győr

Germany's ThyssenKrupp on Friday inaugurated a HUF 1.2 billion plant in Győr, near carmaker Audi's plant. Employing just-in-sequence production, the plant will supply Audi's car factory in just 176 minutes from the time an order is placed, said CEO of ThyssenKrupp Automotive Systems Thomas Müller. The plant is expected to generate annual revenue of €120 million. Plant director Péter Horváth said 53 people would start work in production on an area of 4,100 sqm of leased space. The plant will have fewer than ten managers and office staff. The plant will turn out 450 forward and rear axles a day. The axles will go into Audi's new A3 saloon at the start, then into A3 cabriolets from Q4. Next year, the axles will be installed in TT models. ThyssenKrupp's Hungarian unit had revenue of HUF 5.6 billion in its business year closed September 30, public records show. Audi inaugurated its A3 plant in Győr a little more than a week ago. The plant will make about 125,000 of the models a year.
