Survey: Online trade to grow 20%

Retail sales conducted through the internet are expected to grow by a year-on-year 22.5%, reaching approximately HUF 266 bln in Hungary in 2016, a survey by eNET Internetkutató és Tanácsadó reported today.
Online retail sales amounted to HUF 217 bln in 2014, accounting for 3.1% of total retail sales turnover in Hungary, excluding sales of vehicles and vehicle fuel. Observers project further, accelerated growth for the 2014-2018 period, eNet said.
New big operators and growing confidence towards online trade jointly contributed to the substantial increase in sales. As part of their Black Friday offers alone, webstores generated sales of HUF 2.3 bln-2.7 bln, eNet added.
