German-owned upholstery maker Sitform Butorgyar on Tuesday inaugurated a HUF 450m expansion at its base in Zalaegerszeg (NW Hungary).

Sitform won a HUF 135m grant from the Western Transdanubia Regional Development Agency for the investments, said mayor Csaba Gyutai. The company will make 50 new hires as a result, bringing headcount to 400 by next year, he added.

Sitform turns out about 30,000 individual upholstery orders a year, said owner Rolf Stammberger. About 70% of the upholstery is leather, he added.

Sitform managing director Levente Foldesi said more than 3,000 square metres was added to the company’s production halls in the investment, bringing total production area to 17,000sqm.

This year, Sitform expects to close this year with revenue of HUF 4bn, up from HUF 3.9bn in 2010.
