Russia to spend up to $5.8 bln on electronics industry until 2025
Russia plans to allocate 140 billion rubles ($5.5 billion) - 150 billion rubles ($5.8 billion) to develop its electronics industry through 2025, the Industry and Energy Ministry said in a press release Tuesday.
“The strategy is primarily aimed at taking measures to ensure the development and production of domestic electronic components,” the ministry said. Under the strategy, possible investment could total 227 billion rubles ($8.9 billion) - 247 billion rubles ($9.7 billion). “Russian electronic sales are expected to be no less than 45 billion rubles ($1.8 billion) annually in 2011, and 350 billion rubles ($13.7 billion) in 2025,” the ministry said.
The Industry and Energy Ministry said by 2011 Russian producers would use up to 70% of Russian electronic components against the current figure of 35%. “We can expect scientific-technical cooperation to achieve advances, as well as a breakthrough in new technologies, including nanotechnologies, bioelectronics, optoelectronics and quantum computers, by 2025,” the ministry’s statement reads.
