Report: Ruling party’s campaign came with high price tag
Ruling party Fidesz and their coalition partner KDNP spent HUF 2.072 billion on the most recent municipal elections campaign; five times more than all the left-wing parties combined, and more than twice that of all other major parties combined, research by Átlátszo.hu, K-Monitor, Political Capital and Transparency International Magyarország reveals.
Far-right Jobbik spent HUF 280.59 mln, only HUF 138 mln short of all left-wing parties combined. As with the general elections earlier this year, Fidesz proved to be the big winner of government sponsored campaign ad expenditures: according to the research, HUF 830 mln in public money was spent on pro-government outdoor advertisements during the campaign.
