Report: Gas price rises, diesel remains unchanged

Hungarian oil and gas company MOL raised the per liter price of 95 gas today by a gross HUF 3, while the price of diesel remained unchanged, Hungarian online daily index.hu reported. Despite this most recent price increase, gas is still relatively cheap compared to previous years, according to industry players.
Fluctuations in the price of oil are directly impacted by the forint/dollar exchange rate. At the moment, the exchange rate has dropped to HUF 275 on the dollar, while the price of oil rose to above $40 per barrel, index.hu reported.
The average price of gas reached HUF 317-318, while diesel remained around HUF 316-317. These figures, however, are a dramatic improvement on 2012 when prices reached a record high with gas at HUF 451 per liter and diesel at HUF 449, according to index.hu.
