Price of casco policies keeps decreasing

Casco fees have dropped from HUF 90 000 to HUF 66 500 in H1, the data of kotelezo.hu, an online site on vehicle insurance reveals. However, the decline of fees has not resulted in the increase of new policies: only every fifth car owner has a comprehensive vehicle-insurance contract.
Lóránt Lantos, head of kotelezo.hu, attributes the drop in fees to discounts offered for those buying both mandatory and comprehensive vehicle insurances. As a result, average fee of casco policies has decreased by almost 30% in a year.
Many car owners are still not aware of the price drop: 59% of drivers have not learned about it, though would consider buying a policy, the survey shows. Lack of information is typical among those already having casco contracts. Many people simply extend their existing policies and often pay HUF 25 000-30 000 more than necessary.
