National utilities company ENKSZ to audit district heating companies
The government has appointed Hungaryʼs state-owned First National Utilities Company (ENKSZ) to audit players in the district heating market in preparation for the stateʼs entry into that market, according to a government resolution published in yesterdayʼs official gazette Magyar Közlöny.
The audit to be carried out by ENKSZ will cover the operation models of market players as well, including the ownership, financial, technological, regulatory and cost-efficiency components.
The government instructed the Minister heading the Prime Ministerʼs Office to begin consultations with the development minister by January 31 regarding an action plan to tackle the problems in the sector exposed by the study.
ENKSZ was established by the government in February of this year to act as an efficient, predictable and cheap utilities service provider. Partnering with state-owned FŐGÁZ, it began operating on the gas market in April. It is scheduled to launch services on the electricity market early next year and to enter the district heating market thereafter.
