MOL propels BUX to 1% gain

The Budapest Stock Exchange’s blue-chip BUX index closed Wednesday trade up 1.05% to 16,730.09 on a gain of nearly 2.5% from index heavyweight MOL.

The BUX closed 173.15 points higher on a composite exchange turnover of HUF 12.87bn, fluctuating in a 2.01% range between an intra-session low of 16,477.46 shortly after 9:00 a.m. opening bell and an intra-session high of 16,809.02 at shortly before 10:00 a.m..

BSE blue-chips stood as follows at Wednesday’s closing bell.

Oil and gas company MOL gained 2.37% to HUF 17,300 on a turnover of HUF 3.9bn;

OTP Bank advanced 0.87% to HUF 2,910 on an exchange-high turnover of HUF 7.28bn;

Drug company Richter gained 0.54% to HUF 36,395 on a turnover of HUF 412m;

Magyar Telekom finished unchanged at HUF 500 on a turnover of HUF 961m.

The BSE Big Four generated 97.5% of the exchange’s composite Wednesday turnover.
