MÁV-START passenger numbers rise for first time in ten years
Passenger numbers of state-owned Hungarian railway company MÁV's unit MÁV-START, edged up about 3% to 142 million in 2011, rising for the first time in ten years, MÁV chairman-CEO Ferenc Szarvas said at a press conference in Budapest on Thursday.
Szarvas said the number of paying passengers rose 5.8%.
Parent company MÁV had an operating loss of HUF 27.4 billion in 2011, HUF 12.5 billion less than the loss in the business plan, he said.
Calculating with the HUF 50 billion effect of a partial debt consolidation, the company had net income of HUF 14 billion, he added.
