Hungrana bioethanol plant continues expansion

Hungrana Kft, a west Hungarian company that makes bioethanol from maize starch and isoglucose, has completed the first phase of a Ft 20 billion expansion program boosting its daily processing capacity from 1,200 to 1,500 tons this year.

Jointly owned by Austria’s Agrana and the British Tate & Lyle, Hungrana Kft launched the two-year development at the beginning of this year and expects to process 3,000 tons of maize a day at the end of 2007.

It’s annual processing capacity is projected grow to around 1 million tons by then. Hungrana plans to take on 50 new employees as part of the investment that will also increase the company’s fodder, sweetener and alcohol producing capacity. (Napi Gazdaság)
