Govt approves investments worth over HUF 100bn

The government took decisions at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday on investments outside of the capital worth several hundred billion forints, government spokesman András Giró-Szász said on Thursday.
The biggest investment the cabinet took a decision on was the construction of a 23km stretch of motorway connecting Makó (SW Hungary) with the border with Romania, Giró-Szász said. The HUF 65bn investment is supported by HUF 40bn in European Union funding, he added.
Other investments decided on include the construction of a HUF 26.8bn reservoir to prevent flooding on the Tisza River. EU funding is covering HUF 22.8bn of the cost of the project.
The government will support city rehabilitation projects in six cities: Győr, Kaposvár, Nyíregyháza, Debrecen, Hódmezővásárhely és Kecskemet. Of the approved funding of HUF 7.2bn 5.8bn will come from the EU.
