FAG inaugurates bearings factory in Debrecen

FAG Hungary, the local unit of Germanyʼs Schaeffler Group, has inaugurated a HUF 25 billion bearings factory in Debrecen, eastern Hungary, creating 500 jobs, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said on Wednesday, state news agency MTI reported.

The investment is supported with a HUF 3.2 bln grant from the Hungarian government, said Szijjártó.

Schaeffler regional head Rainer Lindner and COO Andreas Schick both confirmed that the company is committed to the developments in Debrecen. Headcount at FAG is now close to 1,600, which could be increased to 2,000 in the coming years, they added.

FAG Hungary Managing Director Péter Szabó said the company, established 20 years ago, now produces 25 million tapered roller bearings and 500 mln tapered rollers a year on an area of 58,000 square meters.
