Earners in big families took home HUF 202,000 on average last year

Hungarians availing of tax preferences for families with three or more children earned a monthly net HUF 202,006 on average last year, about one-third more than the HUF 152,538 those without any children declared as take home pay, data published by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) on Friday show.
Hungarians who took advantage of the tax preference for families with a single child earned net HUF 159,445, while those with two dependents earned HUF 178,694. For the economy as a whole, Hungarians earned a monthly net HUF 162,485 last year, taking into account the tax preferences for dependents.
Hungaryʼs government approved at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday a proposal to raise the monthly tax preference for families with two dependents from HUF 10,000 to HUF 20,000, gradually until 2019. At present, the subsidy is the same for one and two dependents. The preference for three dependents is a monthly HUF 33,000.
