DO NIT USE, TOO SMALL

Hungary’s Dairy Products Council has drawn up a mid-term strategy for the industry that aims to boost annual output to 2.0 billion-2.2 billion liters of milk by the start of the 2020s, managing director László Lukács told MTI...

At present, dairy farmers’ output is 1.7 billion-1.8 billion liters a year.

The strategy seeks to boost per capita consumption of dairy product in Hungary from 160 liters to 200 liters a year while raising exports from 400,000 tons to 600,000 tons. At the same time it aims to bring the market share of imports under 20%.

To achieve the goals, the strategy recommends the use of modern breeding methods, the introduction of cost-saving feed technology and energy-saving developments.

The strategy has been submitted to the Rural Development Ministry, Lukács said.
