Car tire production up 8.5% in H1

Production of summer tires for personal vehicles saw an 8.5% growth in Hungary in the first half of the year compared to the first half of 2015, according to a press release issued today by tire maker Continental Hungary.
The growth was chiefly boosted by the performance of the cheaper, so-called “budget” segment, with 14.2% growth, while the middle “quality” category expanded by 8.8% and the top “premium” segment dropped by 0.2%.
“Demand in Hungary was positively affected by low gas prices,” noted Dániel Rábai, CEO of Continental Hungary.
